Back from the paint shop

After 8 Months the Mk1 is back! I say 8 months like it was a long time, but it is actually quite impressive considering the amount of work there was to do. All the welding and body repairs were done by Ash Rawson (link to his Facebook to follow) before he worked his magic with the paint.

On the subject of paint - I changed the colour despite being advised not to. I know, from an originality point of view it should have stayed the colour it left the factory in 1982, Alpine white. However, I have always wanted a mk1 in Lhasa green, and I’m doing this car for me, so. Fact is I couldn’t find a Lhasa green example anywhere near as decent as this one.

When it arrived back from paint I knew I had definitely made the right decision. It looked every bit, if not better than I had imagined. A nice sunny day in June, Saturday morning, sun shining - over the moon. Looking forward to getting this thing built back up.

I should mention I’m not a mechanic or anything involved in the motor industry. In fact I have very limited knowledge or experience of working on cars. I am a joiner, so I suppose at least I’m practical and can build stuff; out of wood. Anyway, I’m a good learner, especially when I’m interested in something. Lets hope I do this build justice. Not rushing it, aiming to get ‘Goosy’ on the road spring/summer 2023.
